Feast of Trumpets

And יהוה spoke to Moses saying "Speak to the Children of Israel saying, in the seventh month. on the first day of the month, you will have a Sabbath (Feast of Trumpets), a memorial of the blowing of trumpets, a sacred convocation. Leviticus 23: 23-24 (The Messianic Alef Tav Scriptures)

You may know this day as Rosh Hashana, the Jewish New Year, but it is good to go back and remember YHVH's original purpose for observing this day. It's a call to examine ourselves over the next ten days known as The Ten Days of Awe leading up to Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement and repent of the sins in our lives. I realize I may be preaching to the choir but this is for those of you who may be new to this walk and just learning. This is my 5th year of observing the Feast Days and tonight I'll go outside, sound my shofar and start to consider my ways.

Feast Of Trumpets

The Feast of Trumpets, Yom Teruah, is in the seventh month of the Biblical calender Elul. It is a two day Festival that takes place next week. On our calender that is 9/4 Wednesday sundown to 9/6 Friday sundown. It is the only one of Yahweh's Feasts that starts on the new moon. 

Lev 23:24 Speak to the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall you have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation.

Num 29:1 And in the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall have an holy convocation; you shall do no servile work: it is a day of blowing the trumpets to you.

Num 29:12 And on the fifteenth day of the seventh month you shall have an holy convocation; you shall do no servile work, and you shall keep a feast to the LORD seven days:




My project this week is a quilted banner.

This banner measures approximately 30 inches wide by 57 inches long.

Approaching Shavuot

Shavuot will soon be upon us May 17 & 18. Commemorating the giving of the Torah on Mount Sinai approximately 6000 years ago, it is one of the three pilgrim Feast Days.

In trying to come up with something to add to my Hebrew roots crafts for this occasion I have simply written the Ten Commandments on colored mat board and adding a bit of decoration at the top.

Feast Days Record Keeping

This was the fourth year that I've celebrated the Pesach seder. When I started planning for this year I was having difficulty remembering past years' plans. My very sketchy notes were scattered in various files or notebooks. In light of this fact, I decided to start keeping a dedicated notebook for the feast days for future reference. I took a composition notebook that I already had and covered the front and back with cardstock and did a little decorating on the front. It isn't fancy but now I will be able to accumulate vital information to use for the future with each passing year.
