Gen 2:9 And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the middle of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
In deciding what project to prepare for this weeks blog entry I chose a symbol from last week's Torah portion...the Tree of Life. Trees in general are one of my favorite subject matter when it comes to my crafting and art work. This week I opted for another mug rug, also one of my favorite things to make.
For the tree I chose a commercial stencil from my stash. Various acrylic paints were used and applied to a piece of linen fabric. I chose a fancy piece of cotton fabric framed in a glitzy border fabric. This was layered with heat reflecting batting and backed and framed with plain red cotton. Another mug rug finished!
Partake of the Tree of Life and be blessed!
A blog providing a resource for sharing ideas, patterns, links, etc. with artists and craftspeople returning from the Nations and walking in the principles and instructions of the first five books of the Bible, the Torah, and who want to incorporate their faith into their creations.

A Cup Of Coffee And A LIttle Dove
Recently I purchased an unfinished wooden tray at the craft store. And in my fabric stash I have this wonderful fabric with little doves on it that just was crying out to become part of my latest project. So...what to make with them? Well, since winter is behind us for a while and the main veggie garden has been planted, now there is time for that leisurely cup of coffee or tea on the patio in the morning. (Don't be hard on me. I spent a week's worth of labor just on turning the soil over. I deserve that cup of coffee!) And to carry that cup of coffee and, of course, a sweet treat to go with it, I needed a nice tray with which to carry it.
I sanded, painted, trimmed with gold paint and sealed my tray.
Pretty plain isn't it?
Next step. I needed something to place at the bottom of the tray. And so, the fabric with the little doves came into play. A sort of tray rug which, without the tray would have been called a mug rug, was created.
This was constructed like a quilt with layers sandwiched together. Like the hot mats I made in a previous post, this also has a layer of heat reflective material inside. It keeps the heat from your cup radiating back to the cup and keeps the contents warm a little longer.
If you aren't a quilter but want the same effect, there are what is called 'cheater' fabric. This cheater fabric has many different designs that look like patchwork and would would satisfy the non-quilter. And if you didn't want to sew the layers together, you might layer your fabrics in the tray and just tuck the edges under so they can't be seen. I won't tell if you don't.
Now all I have to do is get that patio table and chairs out and enjoy the sunshine.
This is the third time I've created something for this blog with this little dove in it. His Holy Spirit works in interesting ways. Shalom my friends. Have a wonderful and refreshing Shabbat this week.

Premier Post
Welcome to my first post. Grab a cup of coffee and sit down and explore the site. I will be posting twice a week, hopefully Mondays and Thursdays, and bringing you ideas to incorporate into your own crafting.
I will be showing you some of the things that I've made to spur your imagination and adding links if they pertain to that project.
The above picture is of a mug rug that I created with patchwork and a bit of embroidery. I'm on a mission to create and incorporate items that display our faith in our home and to encourage others to do the same.
Future items that I'm planning to share are bookbinding, wall hangings, quilted items, garden crafts, art applications and on and on. Also I will be setting up a Flickr group in the future so readers of this blog can share their ideas and creations.
I've collected links to many other websites over the past few years and have posted them on this blog. I will continue to add more links as I find them.
Feel free to Pin any of the pictures on this site to Pinterest but be sure to post the link to this site when you pin.
